An updated, five-year strategic plan aims to keep the Union Elementary School District on track to assure continued student success and growth.
Based on four fundamental goals — student academic success, student well-being, high-quality, caring staff, and stewardship of resources — the plan provides UESD staff with specific actions to take in order to be successful in each goal area.
“This plan defines UESD’s vision for the future and identifies our organization's goals and objectives,” said Superintendent Kristine Morris. “Like all organizations, school districts need direction and organizational goals to work toward. Our strategic plan offers that type of guidance. Essentially, a strategic plan is a roadmap to get to our district’s goals.”
Over the last year a committee of 34 members made up of teachers, support staff and administrators worked to update how these four goals will be measured. Guiding the effort will the core values adopted by the group:

Commit to the Union ESD community; and

Believe all children are capable of success, no exceptions!
The district’s mission — Inspiring hope and empowering all students to courageously pursue their goals and dreams — remains the same.
Under the plan, UESD will know it is successful when:

Students are achieving at or above the state on Arizona's statewide assessment;

UESD schools are highly performing (in the top 5 percent in Tolleson HSD boundaries);

Students successfully transition to high school;

Staff and student retention rate is 90 percent or higher;

All students can identify a caring adult in school who can help them succeed; and
-
UESD eliminates the achievement gap between all student subgroups.
