Dear Union Elementary School District Families,

Welcome to 2026. We hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

Each year, we conduct a parent survey to identify our strengths and pinpoint areas for growth. In November, during parent teacher conferences, 948 families districtwide took the survey, which was more than double the participation from last year. Thank you so much for taking the time to make your voice heard!

In December, we “roll out” the data to our staff and process the results to identify what we can do right away to help make improvements.  We share that information with you.

First the positive. Your survey results told us that our strengths lie in recognizing your child’s accomplishments and treating you with respect. You also felt our campuses are clean and well-maintained. We are proud of these strengths and will continue to celebrate student accomplishments through award assemblies, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports, and positive communication.  We will also provide opportunities for you to engage meaningfully with your child’s teacher and the school community. Lastly, we will utilize our resources effectively to ensure our campus buildings are clean and well-maintained.  We are grateful you entrust us with your child’s education and appreciate your engagement in your child’s education.

Where can we get better? Your survey results indicated that you would appreciate ongoing and regular feedback from school staff about how well each child is learning, and would also appreciate more positive phone calls, emails or notes about their child from school.

To help us improve in communicating about and celebrating student success, we will be taking the following steps:

  • Each administrator has agreed to call or send notes with positive feedback to the families of at least five students who engage in conversations about how we can make campus better for them.
  • Central Office staff will introduce themselves to students and greet them by name when visiting campus.
  • Dos Rios staff will increase consistency with communication with phone calls/emails logged in contact log and monitored monthly.
  • Hurley Ranch will engage in communication follow up with parents and document in Synergy. They will also use the agenda schoolwide as a tool for communication between home and school.
  • Union Elementary employees commit to keeping parents informed of their child’s academic progress by posting grades in Synergy in a timely manner.

Thank you again for taking the time to help strengthen our district by participating in our survey. We value collaboration and have a commitment to continuous improvement.  Your voice and feedback help us inspire hope and empower all students to courageously pursue their goals and dreams.

Sincerely,

Kristine Morris

Superintendent
